MARIE CURIE FELLOW
Dr Stelios Yiatros is the Intra-European Fellow working on the project. Stelios joined Cranfield University from the Cyprus University of Technology in Cyprus, where he is an Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering since 2011. He holds a Master of Engineering in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London and a PhD in Nonlinear Structural Mechanics from the same University. At CUT (from which he is on unpaid leave for the duration of the project) he leads the Functionally Optimized Structures group, investigating failure phenomena in optimized structures as well as biomimetic design applications. in 2008 he was awarded the Trevithick Prize for the Best Paper in Engineering Sustainability by the Institution of Civil Engineers and in 2015 received a Commendation by the Institution of Structural Engineers for Excellence in Structural Engineering Education. He is a Licensed Civil Engineer in Cyprus, member of the Cyprus Scientific & Technical Board, Member of the CYS Mirror committees for EN1992 and EN1997, member of the Structural Stability Committee of the Engineering Mechanics Institute (USA). Stelios is a co-founder of Chrysalis LEAP, a Cyprus-based cleantech business idea accelerator who runs the Climate-KIC ClimateLaunchpad competitions in Cyprus and Greece. More information about Stelios as well as his publications list and other activities can be found here.
